Plot
Molly watches a couple of fish pretend to be cars, zooming past as she tries to announce, "It's time for Bubble Guppies!" Suddenly, Gil, dressed as a police officer, appears and blows his whistle, bringing the fish to a halt. This gives Molly the perfect opportunity to shout, "It's time for Bubble Guppies!"
On his way to school, Goby encounters a group of tourists who enthusiastically wish him a "Happy Shrimptennial!" Confused, Goby admits he doesn't know what that is. A family of lobsters then explains the celebration and its location: at the very top of Big Bubble Tower in Big Bubble City! Soon, their bus arrives. They bid farewell to Goby, wishing him a "Super Shrimptennial" before departing. Goby then resumes his swim to class.
As Goby brings this up, Oona asks about Big Bubble City, and Nonny admits he's never been there. Mr. Grouper chimes in, explaining that cities offer a plethora of activities and sights. He elaborates on common city features like tall buildings, bustling buses, taxis, cars, and countless other exciting things! Then, Deema bursts into song: Bubblecity!
After the song, Nonny decides he wants to open a cake shop. Coincidentally, Molly mentions she needs a cake for a party. Nonny greets her, and she explains her ideal cake. He shows her a variety of options: a taxi cake, a bus cake, a bridge cake, and even a pigeon cake. When Molly specifies the cake is for a party, Nonny immediately suggests the Big Bubble Building Cake. Realizing he doesn't have any pre-made, he assures Molly he can bake one especially for her.
They begin by counting the sides of the large rectangular base of the cake. Next, they select a piece to match it, then choose between an oval and a circle. Nonny picks the circle and adds it to the sheet. Noticing only a triangle remains, Molly asks if he has one. Nonny points out he doesn't, only a square piece of cake.
However, Molly gets an idea: they can cut the square piece to make a triangle! She snips off two corners, creating three triangles, and chooses one to add to the cake. Afterward, Nonny frosts the cake, and a tiny shrimp adds a flag. Then Mr. Grouper arrives and asks what time it is, and the shrimp responds, "It's time for lunch!" Goby has a hot dog, Deema enjoys a pretzel, and Oona gets "Horn on the Cob."
After lunch, Molly is very excited about the party and talks about the many things a city has. Suddenly, Gil appears, dressed as the Big Bubble Building, claiming to have "Shrimp-tennial spirit." Molly warns him not to let a shrimp see him dressed like that, pointing out they might confuse him for the actual building. Just then, a group of shrimp enters and hops through the doors of Gil's costume, tickling him as Molly giggles!
In class, they ride Mr. Grouper like a bus. They see Gil, the bridge builder, and Deema, the President. Oona is at the Bubble Building, working as a traffic guard, which Clam comments on. Mr. Grouper then informs the Guppies that they will be going on a field trip to the city later in the day!
Goby points out that the party isn't until that night, but Mr. Grouper tells them about the many other things they can do while they wait. This includes riding a bus to get there and driving over a bridge. They'll even see many sights, like buildings and people, and they might even stop for a pretzel! Then Molly sings "Get Around," and afterward, Mr. Grouper announces that it's time to go outside.
The Guppies head outside to play with Gil and Oona, pretending to be explorers as Goby tells the story of the Lost City.
Once upon a time, there were two brave explorers, Gil and Oona, who were exploring the Lost City in search of the legendary Temple of the Golden Pretzel. As they explored, they spotted a strange sign showing the temple's location. Before they proceeded, Goby drew their attention to a warning sign about the temple’s guardian: Pretzelquatl! Gil wondered what a Pretzelquatl was, but Oona suggested that they try to avoid the guardian.
And so, they set off heading for the temple. Just as Gil said he couldn't wait to have a delicious pretzel, Pretzelquatl appeared, screaming, “Yummy!” The explorers quickly ran away as fast as they could, thinking they had lost him, but he was persistent. Gil wondered what they should do, as Pretzelquatl seemed determined to eat them. Just then, they discovered a Lost City subway, which would help them get to the temple fast. They entered and looked at the map, seeing that they needed to take the yellow subway to get to the temple, but first, they needed to catch the blue subway. They saw the blue subway and boarded just in time!
Thankfully, they managed to escape Pretzelquatl on the subway and continued their journey to the Temple of the Golden Pretzel. Oona and Gil finally arrived at the temple and entered the room where the golden pretzel cart was located. To their shock, Pretzelquatl found them, and they begged him not to eat them! However, he explained that he only eats pretzels and asked if they wanted some. They happily agreed, and they all enjoyed the golden pretzels together and lived happily ever after.
After that, Gil comments that he's never seen a pigeon. Just then, one lands on his head, and Molly tries to tell him, but he doesn't notice. He then asks the audience if they've seen any, and when the Little Fish point out the pigeon on his head, Gil panics a bit, and Molly snaps a picture. She shows him, but Gil remarks that the pigeon isn't in the photo.
The pigeon then floats onto Molly's head, which Gil sees and smiles at, but she can't find it. Just then, Goby arrives, announcing it's time to go to Big Bubble City!
The Guppies, dressed appropriately, sight-see as they ride into Big Bubble City, enjoying the many sights, tastes, and sounds. They arrive at the Big Bubble Building, and Mr. Grouper tells them how high they'll be going. The Guppies note their elevation before receiving a message that the Shrimptennial celebration will be starting soon!
The Mayor then greets everyone and gives a quick speech. She announces she'll need a helper, and Goby volunteers. He goes on stage, introduces himself, and she tells him to count down with them. Everyone begins counting down from 10. Upon reaching 1, Goby pulls the switch, releasing many balloons, confetti, and lights!
A small group of shrimp begins to dance and sing as Molly gives the Mayor the cake. After some sparkler fun, fireworks light up the sky as the episode comes to an end.
Molly asks Gil what he thought about it, then tells him that she thinks his shirt is cool. It's then suddenly the shrimp come over and hop inside Gil's shirt again! They then tickle him as he bounces from the stage and Molly giggles.
